Park Street
Park Street is one of the most famous and vibrant streets in Kolkata, known for its dining, nightlife, and colonial-era charm. Historically, it was called “Burial Ground Road” in the 18th century due to the presence of old cemeteries, including the South Park Street Cemetery. The name “Park Street” is believed to have originated from a deer park owned by Sir Elijah Impey. During the British period, it became the entertainment hub of the city, lined with clubs, restaurants, and elite social venues. Today, it remains a cultural hotspot, especially lively during festivals like Christmas, attracting locals and tourists alike.
